Objectives:

  • to promote and develop knowledge about psychiatric nursing via organisation of trainings, conferences and seminars,
  • to improve the recognition of psychiatric nursing within all fields of health care,
  • to formulate policy recommendations and guidelines for psychiatric nursing,
  • to foster cooperation between all Slovenian psychiatric hospitals and special health care institutions,
  • to strengthen interdisciplinary research and work approaches, cooperation and team work between different professional groups in health care.

The group was among initiators of the postgraduate psychiatry training course in 1971 and first postgraduate study for nurses in Slovenia.

Professional Group of Nurses and Health Technicians in Psychiatry has been a full member of Horation – European Psychiatric Nurses Association since 2006.
